In 2017, Mayor Walsh announced the final version of Imagine Boston 2030, which is first citywide renewal plan in 50 years. The plan prioritizes the growth and development of a comprehensive vision to boost the quality life, equity, and resilience in every neighborhood across the city. Imagine Boston 2030 sets a framework to seize the opportunity to achieve Boston's goals of encouraging continued economic growth, becoming more affordable, and preparing for climate change. In order to make this a reality, Mayor Walsh announced that the Imagine Boston 2030 showcase event site on Columbia Road will be the future site of the $18 million Upham's Corner library branch. The Upham's Corner Branch opened at its current location at 500 Columbia Road in 1904. While the city works on this project, they are in contact with victims of the West End Renewal in order to prevent the same displacement and effects.

February 6, 2018 - "Boston's Way Home"
Boston was identified by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) as the city with the lowest percentage of unsheltered people living on the street of any city conducting a census in 2017. This is the result of the Boston's Way Home plan since 2015. As a part of the City of Boston's effort to end the veteran and chronic homelessness, city plans on increasing resources, providing houses/services, and deploying the new technology for the people who experiencing homelessness. This plan better allows Boston to help the homeless people. In the beginning of 2018, Mayor Walsh called for raising $10 million for the Boston's Way Home fund in order to create 200 units of permanent supportive housing for chronically homelessness individuals. The fund has been launched in partnership with Pine Street Inn and Bank of America. Bank of America has generously kicked off the Fund with a $250,000 donation.
"We are committed to making sure that every person in our City has a place to call their home and build a better life, and this new fund will help do just that. People often ask what they can do to help -- I encourage everyone to learn more about Boston's Way Home Fund, and invite every organization and individual to join us as we move closer to our goal of ending chronic homelessness in the City of Boston."
